The Dixie Chicks, scheduled to appear on the PBS-TV special "All-Star Bluegrass Celebration," have backed out due to legal issues.
The Chicks decided not to take part in the show after producers gave them a proposal that would give them the right to distribute the Chicks' performance on CD and video.
The Chicks rejected that proposal, but agreed to appear on the special anyway, if producers agreed not to include their performance on the CD or video.
Producers declined the offer, and the special will go on without the Dixie Chicks.
The PBS special will, however, feature many top names in country music, including:
Vince Gill, Travis Tritt, Patty Loveless, Earl Scruggs, Ralph Stanley, the Del McCoury Band, Alison Krauss & Union Station and Nickel Creek.
