In an impressive feat, Rascal Flatt's sophomore album, "Melt," has been certified platinum, after just five weeks of sales.
The album's first-week sales should have been a hint of the success to come -- it sold 169,000 copies the first week.
"It's just unbelievable to sell 169,000 copies in the first week," said band member Gary LeVox in an interview. "Somebody told us that it was the second largest sophomore debut in Soundscan history. I don't know how they figure that out, but it's nice to see that the 'sophomore jinx' didn't get us."
Currently, the first single from "Melt," "These Days," holds the #1 position on the charts, and it is also the #1 video on CMT this week.
