There was a tense moment at Tim McGraw's concert at Pittsburgh's Mellon Arena recently.
Tim's father, Tug McGraw, was a pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies and recently had a tumor removed from his brain. Perhaps as a tribute to his father as well as the team, Tim brought a member of the audience who was wearing a Phillies jersey up on the stage with him.
Possibly thinking that Tim preferred the Phillies over their longtime arch-rivals the Pittsburgh Pirates, audience members loyal to the Pirates started booing. Tim took it personally, got angry and left the stage, however he returned a short time later.
A local newspaper covering the event reported that the crowd probably had no idea that it was a Tug McGraw reference or that he just had surgery.
