As heâÂÂs done before, elusive country star Garth Brooks will again suit up and join the Kansas City Royals at spring training this year in Surprise, Arizona as a non-roster invitee. GarthâÂÂs suiting up to shine the spotlight on his charity, Teammates For Kids. This is GarthâÂÂs fourth trip to spring training [he worked with the Padres in 1998-99 and the Mets in 2000]. "Garth Brooks and the Teammates for Kids have been good friends and partners of the Kansas City Royals for a number of years," said Royals president Dan Glass. "We strongly believe in the work the Touch âÂÂem All Foundation is doing.â Garth has been raising money via professional sports since 1999 when he started the Teammates for Kids Foundation with the help of 67 Major League baseball players to raise money for children's charities around the world. Today, more than 450 professional baseball, hockey and football players participate in TouchâÂÂem All (the baseball division), Top Shelf (the hockey division) and Touchdown Teammates (the football division). TheyâÂÂve raised over $37 million in the last five years. For more information, go to teammates4kids.com.
