The title of Buddy Jewell's hit "Sweet Southern Comfort" begs the question - did the makers of the famous Kentucky bourbon approach him about a sponsorship? Buddy tells X Radio Networks that they did not - and it could be because he asked the song's writers to change the title from simply "Southern Comfort" to "Sweet Southern Comfort," distancing the association a bit from what would have otherwise been a direct connection to the Southern Comfort product, because of Buddy's own past history with drug and alcohol abuse. "I don't want to encourage younger kids to drink," says Buddy. "I went through a period of my life where I wish I had listened to people who tried to tell me not to do that. I don't have a problem with someone wanting to have a drink, I was just one of those people who couldn't have just one."
