Sara Evans' first visit to Nashville ended with her and her family getting duped out of $20,000. "They were just con artists," says Sara of the low-life producers who promised to make her a star when she was 11 years old. "They were just waiting for people like us to come down here [to Nashville]. They said, 'Well, you borrow twenty thousand dollars from your bank, we'll make you a record, we'll put it out on the radio.' I was ten or eleven. We did this. We got ripped out of money. Then for the next five years we paid off that loan with the money that we made playing music back home. Learned a big lesson."
