On April 22nd a star-studded lineup including Toby Keith, Vince Gill, Joe Diffie, Katrina Elam and Ty England will honor the Oklahoma City National Memorial. "I'm very honored to have been asked to participate," said Joe, "and will proudly be there to remember my fellow Oklahomans who were taken from us. I'll never forget where I was on that terrible day. I was in Anchorage, Alaska, doing a couple of shows. My sister worked near the building, and I was very concerned about her safety. As it turned out, she normally jogged by there every day, but was called away to a meeting that morning. I took up a collection from the audience [at my shows], matched their donations and sent it to the proper agency."
The concert will be held at the Ford Center in downtown Oklahoma City, as part of the events surrounding the 10th anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing. On the morning of April 19, 1995, at 9:02 AM, a massive explosion occurred which sheared the entire north side of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Downtown OKC, killing 168 people. The show is being presented by the Oklahoma Centennial Commission and the Oklahoma City National Memorial during the National Week of Hope.
