The trio—Natalie Maines, Emily Robison and Martie Maguire—attended the premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, Sept. 12. The film focuses on what the Dixie Chicks have gone through since Natalie’s anti-President Bush remark at a 2003 London concert. Variety.com praised the movie for giving viewers an enormous amount of behind-the-scenes access to the group’s personal and professional lives. “[The filmmakers] have crafted an insightful and heartfelt look at the experiences of the Dixie Chicks over the last three years,” writes Phil Gallo on variety.com. In the movie, Natalie continues to attack President Bush, making the documentary more politically charged than originally planned. “It was one of those things where we knew it was important to continue filming,” says Emily about Natalie’s remarks. The film opens in general release in October.
