Trace and Desperate Housewives TV star James Denton hosted the show, which paid tribute to country songs that have won Song of the Year honors either from the CMA, ACM or Grammys. “I’m getting more comfortable in the hosting role,” Trace told Country Weekly before the event. “It’s not live, so I’ll be OK.” Trace also performed the Roger Miller classic “King of the Road,” while Jack Ingram and Eric Church took on Roger’s “Dang Me.” Billy Currington noted that the choice for his tribute song, Kenny Rogers’ “Lucille,” was an easy one. “The first album I ever bought was Kenny Rogers’ Greatest Hits,” Billy told Country Weekly. “It had ‘Lucille’ and other great songs on there.” The Songs of the Year concert will be televised as a special on GAC Jan. 27.
