Doyle replaced Merle Haggard in the Buckaroos. He backed Buck throughout the 1960s, and his propulsive playing was an important factor in his boss’ trademark rock-influenced sound. In the early 1970s, Doyle left for a solo career that included Top 40 country hits like “Lila” and “Queen of the Silver Dollar.” He later opened a musical instrument shop outside Nashville. Doyle is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ginny.
