The START Center, which provides training and educational programs for children and adults, was Freddy’s flagship charity. Freddy, who died in 2006, was best known for singles like “Before the Next Teardrop Falls,” Wasted Days and Wasted Nights” and many more. He also infused Mexican and Spanish influences with American country and rock music. The keynote speaker for the award ceremony will be fellow artist Domingo Samudio, also known as rocker “Sam the Sham,” one of Freddy’s closest friends.
