Managers of the home want to overhaul its tourist complex with a new visitors center, a convention hotel and high-tech museum. The cost to make the changes is estimated at around $250 million. The main people behind the plans, led by CKX Chairman Robert Sillerman, have a history of coordinating such deals. Multimillionaire Sillerman took over Graceland in 2005 when he bought the rights to Elvis’ name and image from Elvis’ daughter, Lisa Marie Presley. A huge crowd is expected to descend upon Graceland Aug. 16 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Elvis’ death, but the visitors will not see any changes to the property.
