Carrie, the reigning CMA Female Vocalist of the Year, is nominated again in that category, as well as Album of the Year for Carnival Ride. She received the good news as she was headed to tour rehearsals. “This is awesome!” she raved. “As an artist, you always hope the music you record will touch people’s lives. There is nothing more rewarding than to be recognized by your peers and to know your fans are enjoying the same ride!”
James Otto, up for New Artist of the Year, took note of the competition in today’s country music. “I didn’t feel that we even had a shot at it,” said the “Just Got Started Lovin’ You” singer. “There is so much great talent out there.”
Trace Adkins received two nominations, Single and Music Video of the Year, both for his hit “You’re Gonna Miss This,” which also garnered a nod for Song of the Year. Trace said that the song “has been such a special gift for me this year, so I’m really thrilled that the CMA and the industry recognized the strength of that song.”
The Lady Antebellum trio––Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood––all agreed that they would bring their parents to the CMA Awards show, Nov. 12. For Hillary, the group’s entry into the Vocal Group of the Year category was almost its own reward. “To be in the same category as the Eagles!” smiled Hillary. “I mean, are you kidding? We’ll take it!” Lady Antebellum is also nominated in the New Artist of the Year category.
The 42nd Annual CMA Awards show airs Wednesday, Nov. 12, from Nashville at 8 p.m. ET on ABC-TV.
