Ronnie was scheduled to perform as part of a musical tribute to famed producer Billy Sherrill, one of the new inductees to the Hall of Fame. The producers of the program called Randy, currently on the charts with “Anything Goes,” late in the afternoon and asked if he could fill in for Ronnie, who had to cancel his appearance. Fresh from a taping at GAC, Randy rushed over to the symphony hall to rehearse the Charlie Rich classic, “Behind Closed Doors.” The tribute to Billy Sherrill also included performances by Lee Ann Womack and George Jones. “It was an honor to be part of this ceremony,” said Randy.
