The cause of death was a result of complications from gallbladder surgery, reported Delaney’s wife, Susan Lanier-Bramlett. In the late 1960s, Delaney and his wife Bonnie Bramlett formed the duo Delaney & Bonnie, which scored two hits on the pop charts, “Never Ending Song of Love” and “Only You Know and I Know.” Delaney later wrote songs that were recorded by the duo of Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gayle, Ray Stevens and others. Delaney and Bonnie’s daughter Bekka Bramlett lives in Nashville and is an in-demand session vocalist and club performer. Delaney had recently released an album, A New Kind of Blues.
