Carrie won the Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance for "Last Name," while Brad won two awards, Best Male Country Vocal Performance for "Letter to Me" and Country Instrumental Performance for "Cluster Pluck," which he shared with several other artists. Alison and Robert, the lead vocalist for Led Zeppelin, took home one of the night’s top honors, Record of the Year, for "Please Read the Letter" from their album Raising Sand, which was produced in Nashville. Sugarland won for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals for "Stay." And in a popular victory, George Strait received his first-ever Grammy, winning Best Country Album for Troubadour.
The Grammy TV special was filled with performances from country artists, including Kenny Chesney, who sang an acoustic version of his No. 1 hit, "Better as a Memory," and Carrie Underwood, rocking the house on "Last Name."
