Brad Paisley has created and directed his fair share of background videos for his concert tours, but he took things a step further when he showcased his short film, entitled When Mom’s Away, for a Music City crowd on the closing night of the Nashville Film Festival.
Primarily made as a prank on his wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, when she was traveling on a business trip, Brad’s home movie features scenes of his son Huck (then barely over a year old), appearing to hold a revolver, ride a horse, drink, and roll down a hill in a stroller, all thanks to the magic of camera angles and toy dolls. The film is a first for Brad, while Kim directed a short film, Shade, in 2006.
While on the Nashville Film Festival red carpet, Brad and Kimberly told Country Weekly that there is a possibility of future film collaborations between the actress and the country singer. But Brad says you won’t find him in front of the camera. “I think [Kim and I will collaborate at some point], but not with me acting. You’ll never see us acting together, but she’s got some movies she’s talking about directing and they will need some music. I’d love to be involved in that way. I don’t know if she’ll give me a chance or not,” Brad said with a laugh. Kim interjected, “That would be terrific. You can audition.”
“I can try out like everyone else,” Brad agreed.
But don't look for a film collaboration anytime soon. “You never know, but we’ve got enough going on separately that we come home at the end of the day and talk about what’s going on separately as opposed to collaborating. We collaborate on enough stuff,” said Brad. “On babies,” agreed Kim.
