Gwyneth Paltrow’s first country tune didn’t get much love from country radio on its first full day out.
Only 30 of the top 125 country stations played “Country Strong,” the same title as her upcoming movie, where Gwyneth stars as an aging country star trying to make a comeback. And most of those stations only played the song once, according to Wade Jessen, Billboard’s senior charts manager.
Only one station, WGTY in York, Pa., played the song three times.
You can hear the song by going to www.kellycanter.com , so named for Gwyneth’s character’s name in the movie, which comes out Dec. 22. The movie soundtrack comes out Oct. 26.
Meanwhile, at least one artist has given her stamp of approval for the song. Michelle Branch, pop-turned-country singer, tweeted today, “I was actually impressed.”
