Carrie Underwood and hubby Mike Fisher seem to be yin and yang for each other. She's the creative country singer, while he's the athletic hockey player. They even had different tastes when it came to the sweet desserts served at their Georgia wedding reception.
Carrie tapped cupcake creator Ivey Childers of IveyCake in Nashville to create a cupcake tower of almost 250 of her signature "I Do" cupcakes, made of vanilla cake and topped with vanilla frosting, edible sugar pearls and pink edible glitter.
While Carrie was crazy for vanilla, hubby Mike preferred chocolate. "It gave me an opportunity to incorporate a second flavor, which was chocolate covered in a white icing,” Ivey tells Country Weekly. “I made the base of the tower a layer of chocolate cake. It was really perfect the way it worked out with the two flavors."
Ivey also had a little surprise for Carrie and her guests. "I actually snuck in some 'mini cupcakes' for a midnight snack. After everybody had eaten cake, after all that dancing you get a second wind of hunger. So, I threw in strawberry, red velvet and carrot cake minis. I actually told Carrie about it the night before the wedding. I was like, ‘I snuck in minis for a midnight snack,’ and she thought that was awesome. She was very excited.”
