Laura Bell Bundy is putting her acting skills to work, taping new episodes of How I Met Your Mother. Laura Bell portrays a TV news anchor on the show, and the Achin’ and Shakin’ singer’s character is rumored to be shaking things up.
“There may be some romantic interest between my character and another character,” she acknowledges to Country Weekly. When asked if there was any truth to the rumors of a possible date between her character and Josh Radnor's character, Ted, she replies coyly, “I know whether or not that’s true. I don’t know if I can tell you about it!”
She is sure that her character Becky will cause plenty of headaches for Metro News One co-anchor Robin. “Becky is perky, upbeat, and slightly obnoxious,” says Laura Bell. “She knows how to push Robin’s buttons, you know?”
Laura Bell says she wasn’t an avid watcher of How I Met Your Mother prior to filming, but she quickly fell in love with the show’s comedy. “When I found out I would be doing the show, I ended up watching the entire first season and now I’m hooked. It’s a really good show.”
A good show with a close-knit (and very forward) cast. “They are like a family. The first day I was there, Cobie Smulders, who plays Robin, sits me down and goes ‘OK. What’s your deal? Married? Single? Boyfriend? What’s going on?’ So they were all in my business from the first moment. It was hysterical. They want to know where I stand in all [areas of] my life. “
Priding herself on being an all-around entertainer, Laura says fans don’t have to worry that being in a recurring role will take away from her music. “It’s fun for me and doesn’t take much time. I shot my first two episodes in two days. I shot my most recent episode the other day, and I spent a lot of downtime when I wasn’t filming in my dressing room writing songs. So it kind of works.”
