Willie Nelson won't have to sing for his sentence after all.
Despite an earlier report that the Red Headed Stranger could satisfy the community service portion of his sentence for possession of marijuana by singing "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" for Judge Becky Dean-Walker, the judge now says the prosecutor in the case, C.R. “Kit” Bramblett, was trying to be funny, ”and it got out of hand.”
District Attorney Bramblett originally said that most of these cases are resolved with a plea by mail, but that Judge Dean-Walker demanded that Willie show up in court.
The judge “wants to meet Willie,” the district attorney told the AP.
The court case stems from Willie’s Nov. 26 arrest at a Border Patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas.
