One of Nashville's top songwriters, Harley Allen, died today (March 30) in Nashville at age 55 after battling lung cancer.
Harley's major hits included the No. 1 songs "The Baby" by Blake Shelton, John Michael Montgomery's "The Little Girl," Darryl Worley's "Awful, Beautiful Life" and "Tough Little Boys" by Gary Allan.
The colorful writer, whose father was bluegrass artist Red Allen, will surely be missed in the Music Row community. Country Weekly sends its condolences to Harley's family and friends.
