Kenny Rogers and his wife, Wanda, knew they were expecting. But they weren't expecting this.
The couple is still reeling from the day, only a few weeks ago, when they went to the doctor for a sonogram - and got a little more than they bargained for. "The doctor said, 'You need to look at this,' " recalls Kenny. "We looked, and there were two pounding heartbeats there."
That's right - the legendary singer, 65, will become the father of twins in July. "This is going to make my life really, really interesting," he chuckles.
When Kenny and Wanda married in June 1997, neither thought this day would come. Kenny believed his child-rearing days were behind him for good - he already had three adult children from previous marriages, and couldn't imagine doing it all over again. Wanda, then 30, promised her new husband that that was just fine with her - but he wasn't so sure.
"I told her, 'When you turn 35, it is gonna hit you like a ton of bricks. It's instinct, it's your body's reaction to nature,' " he remembers. "She said, 'Not mine.' Well, on her 35th birthday, she said, 'Can we just have one?' "
