Besides touring with Brad Paisley and Rascal Flatts, Kellie Pickler—a fifth-season finalist on the mega-popular American Idol—is on a roll. She’ll be taking a shot at acting soon when she does a pilot for a sitcom on the Fox network. Her performance of her hit “I Wonder” on the recent CMA Awards show garnered high praise, and now her “Things That Never Cross a Man’s Mind” is climbing the charts. Here’s part of Country Weekly’s interview with Kellie. For the rest of Kellie’s interview, check out CW’s 12/17 issue, on sale 12/3.
I was in Georgia on the American Idol tour. It was a great feeling. A Rascal Flatts song came on and then “Red High Heels” came on right after it. It was nice to be on the radio with all these other country artists that I’ve admired. It was a big trill.
Can I do Matthew McConaughey? [Big laugh]
I love shoes. It’s so weird; every time I go shopping I buy six or seven pairs of shoes. Half of them are still in the box. It’s my little addiction I guess you could say.
I don’t even know. I get them in the mail all the time from fans and different shoe designers.
I have a bedroom that I’ve turned into a shoe closet.
Oh, gosh! You know what, I don’t know because I haven’t met that person yet.
A lot of people [laughs]. Some of my teachers … all through school I never paid attention in school. I always looked out the window. I always wanted to sing and everybody thought I was crazy.
Dolly Parton. I’m compared to her quite often so I might only have to be myself [laughs].
I do not like … can I just do “all of the above”? It’s so strange because I like cleaning other people’s places, but I do not like to clean mine.
I honestly I hate talking on the phone so I don’t really ever talk on the phone. I usually don’t get bored because I’m always on the go. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been bored.
I bought my first condo, and I’m looking forward to buying a house next year.
I’d probably ask him if I could have that Bentley he drives. Or I’d ask him what he’s getting me for my birthday [laughs].
