In the Dec. 1 issue of Country Weekly, we profiled the legendary “Queen of Country Music,” Kitty Wells. Kitty talked about the new exhibit in her honor at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, and recalled some of the high points in her career. Kitty also reflected on her early days or recording and touring for Country Weekly.
“We traveled lots by car, and that was before you had the big superhighways,” Kitty recalled. “So, it was pretty slow going at times. Sometimes,” she adds with a chuckle, “you’d have to put the bass fiddle in the back seat of the car and have it go over everyone’s lap. If it wasn’t raining, you could string it on top of the car.”
