Who’s Gonna Fill Their Legendary Shoes?
There are those who will duly testify that Vince was the last true “vocalist” to win the CMA Male Vocalist of the Year award, skilled as he is at employing that rich, warm tenor, the fluid range, the emotional touches he particularly brought to ballads. But Vince hasn’t made his bread by voice alone. Versatility, mainly in his songwriting and incredible musicianship, has kept Vince in the game. His triple-threat abilities have obviously inspired and influenced the likes of “do-it-all” artists Keith Urban and Hunter Hayes, among the more prominent. These days, Vince has taken on the additional role of Grand Ole Opry standard-bearer, hosting segments on a regular basis and often serving as the official “inductor” of new Opry members. He’s the perfect meld of country’s old ways and the exciting future direction.
