One Flew South

Last of the Good Guys

Naturally sublime harmony is just as rare in music as it is in life, and One Flew South has certainly found it. Some trios take turns singing lead and others have one or two dedicated lead voices, but Eddie Bush, Royal Reed and Chris Roberts mostly approach the 12 tracks on their debut in one-for-all unison a la Crosby, Stills & Nash. (The presence of frequent co-writer J.D. Souther also intensifies the ’70s feel.)  Producer Marcus Hummon had a hand in penning most of the songs, so it’s no surprise that he frames the threesome’s sterling vocal blend in a sympathetic and tasteful way.
