July 4, 2011 – George Strait: For Love of Country

On Sale June 27, 2011

George Strait started to get serious about music while serving our country as a member of the U.S. Army in Hawaii in the early 1970s. He auditioned for and landed a slot as the lead singer in a country band that played on the base, and a superstar career was launched. As we approach the July 4 holiday, this special cover story pays tribute to George and the many other country stars who served in the military before getting their careers underway.
