Hollywood actor Zooey Deschanel (Fox series New Girl) has long wanted to play Loretta Lynn on Broadway.

"I had had this dream about doing Coal Miner's Daughter on Broadway, like, three years ago. Well, actually, I was in the shower," she told Jay Leno on Friday (Sept. 21). "I would never get tired of singing these songs."

Then Zooey found out a group was getting ready to indeed bring Loretta's story to Broadway. So Zooey kept on calling, and she finally got the word.

"I got this call that Loretta liked me and she wanted to see if we got along in person," she said. "I would fly out to Nashville, and if she liked me, we would announce it, but if she didn't like me, we wouldn't."

Whoah! That's a lot of pressure.

"But I flew out there and she's amazing and she's so nice. And we spent the day together, and she liked me!"

Whew.

"It's my pipe dream come to reality," Zooey told Jay.
