Woman Arrested after Rascal Flatts Concert

Charged with second-degree assault.

Usually, country concertgoers are loyal, respectful and there for a good time. Sometimes, though, fans can get ugly. A 33-year-old New York woman, Carolyn Marie Smith, was charged with second-degree assault due to an altercation after a Rascal Flatts concert at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in Darien Center, N.Y., on Aug. 12.

According to The Batavian, , Carolyn struck another person in the face while in the parking lot of the event center. The blow allegedly caused a severe laceration in the victim. Carolyn was arrested on Wednesday, then arraigned and released on her own recognizance, until a later court date.

The venue seems to attract some unruly country fans. On July 23, 70 Brad Paisley fans were arrested at the performing arts center, while dozens of citations were issued for underage drinking.

The Rascal Flatts incident comes mere weeks after a man was beaten during a Tim McGraw concertat the Comcast Center near Boston on July 24.
