Willie Nelson Goes (Coco)Nuts for His Birthday

Willie’s new duet with Kenny Chesney is released the same day Willie turns 80.

Happy 80th to Willie Nelson!

And, folks, the country icon is still relevant. In fact, he has a duet, “Coconut Tree,” on the new Kenny Chesney album, Life on a Rock, out today (April 30), the very same day Willie hits the landmark birthday.

Kenny recently told Country Weekly and other media outlets that he had a chance to celebrate Willie’s birthday early.

“Over the holidays, I went to Hawaii and sat around a poker table with Willie for a couple of days. And trust me, we climbed our own coconut tree,” Kenny said, laughing. “It was a lot of fun.”

Hmm, we’re not sure what he's referring to. OK, yes we are.

The playful song takes Kenny back to the tropical islands he loves so much.

“This song takes me there in my heart and my soul and my head,” Kenny said. “It’s one of the few songs that I didn’t write on this record, but I easily could have, because I’ve lived that a hundred times over.”
