When mild-mannered Wade Bowen gets teed off, something bad doesn't happen, but something good does.

At the avid golfer's annual Wade Bowen Classic Celebrity Golf Tournament and Concert, held at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco, Texas, on June 2, Wade and pals including Pat Green, Josh Abbott Band, The Departed's Cody Canada and Seth james, Aaron Watson, Roger Creager, Neal McCoy, Charlie Worsham and Cody Johnson, managed to swing golf clubs and sling guitars to raise nearly a quarter of a million dollars. Money raised during the weekend-long annual event will benefit multiple area organizations, including rebuilding efforts in nearby West, Texas—the site of a tragic fertilizer plant explosion in April.

"This year's event was beyond anything I could've imagined,” Wade says. “What an outpouring of support for our friends in West, Texas, from the community and the artists. This was for sure a year I will never forget!"

When he isn't on the golf course or tour bus, Wade is busy at work on his next album.
