The Voice Coaches Shut Down LeAnn Rimes’ Staffer

“I just think he’s got a little more development that needs to happen,” Blake says.

It had all the makings of a great story.

Ryan Fogerty has spent years stocking LeAnn Rimes' tour bus with food and drinks, and setting up some of her production equipment on the road. They all go out for karaoke one night, and LeAnn is shocked when she hears her road assistant step up to the mic.

"I was blown away; I really was. I'd never heard him sing before. It's not something we ever really talked about. But he's gifted for sure," LeAnn says.

So Ryan tries out for The Voice, where country music star Blake Shelton is a coach. The pressure builds, the excitement mounts, and . . .

All four judges shut Ryan down after he sings the Chris Young hit "Tomorrow."

"You have a good voice," pop star Christina Aguileria told Ryan on the show that aired Tuesday (Sept. 11). "It kind of had its fall offs here and there."

Blake also told Ryan that his voice is good.

But afterward, Blake said, "You have to be great to get a button pushed on this show. And I think he will be great. I just think he's just got a little more development that needs to happen."
