Vince, Brad, Willie Honor Merle

Merle

Merle Haggard is one of several entertainment mega-stars who received prestigious Kennedy Center Honors in a Dec. 5 ceremony, which airs tonight (Dec. 28) on CBS.

Merle sits next to President and Mrs. Obama as well as fellow honorees Paul McCartney and Oprah Winfrey.

Those who turn out to sing for Merle include Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Miranda Lambert, Vince Gill, Brad Paisley, Jamey Johnson, Sheryl Crow and even part-time country artist Kid Rock.

One of the most powerful moments comes at the end of the Merle tribute when Oprah reaches over to clasp his hand.
