If watching Parmalee’s video for “Close Your Eyes” gives you an almost uncontrollable urge to create your own adult-sized Slip ’N Slide, imagine how the foursome felt on the set that day! Then imagine their disappointment when they were told they couldn’t partake in the fun. And it wasn’t even for a reason that a guy would typically expect.

Bassist Barry Knox tells Country Weekly, “They make you wear makeup on these video shoots. We were all trying to slide down it and they were like, ‘No, you’re going to mess up your makeup!’”

OK, that’s legit, but when Barry’s bandmates start talking, it sounds like the makeup might’ve been an excuse. Lead singer Matt Thomas reveals, “It was cold! And that was a long waterside. I can’t imagine making it all the way down.”

Guitarist Josh McSwain agrees, “When we say long, you aren’t envisioning how long it really is. Like, it goes on and on and turns and curves and goes down this way, it banks this way, it’s crazy!”

Matt’s brother and drummer Scott Thomas reiterates, “Not 200 feet, 200 yards long.”

Cold? Makeup? Or maybe a little . . . chicken?
