UPDATED: Trace Adkins and Wife Rhonda Divorcing

Trace Adkins’ wife of 16 years, Rhonda, has filed for divorce from the country singer. The news comes after a tough few months for Trace, which included a stint in rehab for alcohol abuse and the death of his father.

Nashville’s WSMV reports that Rhonda filed for divorce on Tuesday afternoon, March 25, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

In the paperwork, Rhonda is asking for primary custody of the couple's three children—daughters MacKenzie, Brianna and Trinity—and for the country star to pay her child support, as well as alimony and legal fees associated with the divorce.

Trace is best known for such No. 1 hits as “You’re Gonna Miss This” and “Ladies Love Country Boys.” In 2013, Trace was crowned the winner of NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice, and he starred alongside Matthew McConaughey in The Lincoln Lawyer in 2011.

In a statement, Trace’s spokesperson said, “Trace and Rhonda are united in ensuring that their children’s interests come first. They thank everyone for respecting their privacy as they work through this personal matter together.”
