UPDATE! New Music From Shania?

Record label says no new album from Shania Twain coming soon.

Although several sources revealed on Wednesday, Jan. 21, that Shania Twain will make an announcement about a new album during the latter part of the week of Jan. 26, a spokesperson from her record label, Mercury Nashville, contacted Country Weekly magazine late on Thursday, Jan. 22, to say that there would be no announcement of new Shania music any time soon. Obviously, Shania's legion of fans—and the Country Weekly staff—are still hopeful that it won't be too long before she releases a new CD. But, for now, we will all have to wait for the label's announcement.

Shania recently remarked that she has been busy writing songs for a new record. "That's consuming a lot of my time right now," she noted. Shania added that she was working especially hard on lyrics, because "I want to be as true to myself as possible." This past year, Shania split from her husband and producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange after 14 years of marriage. Her Come on Over CD is the best-selling album in country history with sales of more than 20 million copies in the U.S. and more than double that amount worldwide.
