Two Dixie Chicks Renamed Court Yard Hounds

Emily Robison and Martie Maguire of the Dixie Chicks have recorded an album under the band name Court Yard Hounds,  Rolling Stone reports.

Their upcoming album is scheduled to be released in May, and it will feature Emily on lead vocals. There will also be an appearance by the Wallflowers' Jakob Dylan on a song called "See You In The Spring." The sisters are also slated to perform (as a duo) at the annual South by Southwest conference in March.

While Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines will not appear on the album, the sisters say that the Chicks have not formally parted ways. "Emily and I had the itch,” Martie says, “and every time we’d call Natalie and say ‘are you ready?’ she wasn’t ready. She wanted a clear-cut break.”

She admits that while the trio hasn't disbanded, the sisters rarely see Natalie.  “I’m hoping she’ll come out to one of our shows,” Martie says. “Maybe it’ll inspire her to want to do music again.”
