TV Show Character Isn't Based on Taylor Swift

And the ABC drama’s country veteran character is getting compared to Reba McEntire.

The comparisons of upcoming TV show Nashville’s characters to real-life country singers is way off, the show's stars told reporters over the weekend.

If ya haven't heard, Nashville—which debuts Oct. 10 on ABC—is about a young country upstart (played by Hayden Panettiere) clashing with a veteran star (Connie Britton). And the stars have been hearing for weeks that their characters are based on real country singers.

“I’ve heard the Taylor Swift [comparison] quite a bit,” said Hayden, who played the cheerleader on NBC's Heroes.

“I think aside from being about the same age and blond—and not even the same height at all!—once you get to see Juliet you’ll disagree wholeheartedly. I think Taylor would disagree. She’s much nicer than my character.”

Connie’s character is being compared to Reba McEntire, Connie said.

“I ran into Reba McEntire on a plane and she said, ‘Did you hear you’re playing me in your show?’” said Connie, a star on Friday Night Lights. “I said I had no idea! For me, it’s an amalgam of a lot of different people, but I think it’s fun to take from that sort of palette and really let this lone character emerge. I don’t have any one person I’m basing the character on.”
