Frigid weather and freezing rain couldn't keep Tracy Lawrence from throwing his 8th Annual Mission Possible Turkey Fry in Nashville on Tuesday, Nov. 26. As in previous years, Tracy and some of his musical pals got together and fried hundreds of turkeys to help the Nashville Rescue Mission provide a Thanksgiving meal to those in need.

Members of the Tennessee Titans football team, including kicker Rob Bironas, the U.S. Coast Guard, sibling duo The Roys, Chad Warrix, Rachel Bradshaw and Rick Huckaby were all on hand for the annual event that cooked more than 500 turkeys.

“The real heroes are the volunteers,” said Tracy. “I am so humbled each year by the outpouring of support from the community, to the sponsors and volunteers that stood in freezing rain to cook turkeys giving back to others in need. It's a wonderful feeling."

Tracy first started the Mission Possible Turkey Fry in 2006. To date, nearly 7,000 turkeys have been provided to prepare over 46,000 meals to help the Nashville Rescue Mission feed the homeless throughout Middle Tennessee.
