Tracy Lawrence and Friends Deep Fry 3,000 Turkeys for the Needy

Keith Anderson helps: “I feel like I’m wearing a new fried turkey cologne.”

In Nashville Rescue Mission's parking lot Wednesday (Nov. 23), Tracy Lawrence set up more than 40 vats of oil to deep fry more than 3,000 turkeys.

"This makes downtown smell better than it does all year," Tracy tells CountryWeekly.com, laughing."

It's the sixth year that Tracy has gotten together to make turkeys for the mission, for veterans homes and for all sorts of needy folks across Middle Tennessee.

And in the process, Tracy finds out who his friends are.

Country acts Restless Heart and Keith Anderson joined the Tennessee Titans cheerleaders and scores of volunteers to make it happen.

"I feel like I'm wearing a new fried turkey cologne," Keith said. "The only problem is I'm afraid it's gonna attract more guys than girls—or the girls we don't want."
