It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! At least it did last night in Nashville when Trace Adkins opened up the dress rehearsal for his Christmas Show Tour to music industry insiders at the city’s Tennessee Performing Arts Center.

Attendees enjoyed the full production of the show, which includes Trace’s baritone narrative, the 12-piece “Sarepta Symphony" and guest vocalists Lily Costner and Andrea Zonn. Scottish vocalist Alyth McCormack and Irish group The Chieftans, both of whom appear on Trace’s Christmas album, The King’s Gift, will also have their contributions acknowledged during the show, which features traditional instrumentation including uilleann pipe, penny whistle, mandolin, violin, viola, cello, harp and organ.

“The show was inspired by the last few years I’ve done the Christmas processional at Disney World," Trace told Country Weekly. “It’s just one of my favorite things to do. I look forward to doing it every year. And that’s really what inspired the direction I wanted to go in with this tour. The narration between the songs—there’s some history about some of these songs that people just simply aren’t aware of. There are some personal anecdotes. People will learn something, people will laugh, people will, hopefully, get in the spirit. I’m a little nervous about doing it because . . . it’s out of my comfort zone, but you don’t grow and move forward if you don’t challenge yourself.”

Immediately following the show, Trace packed up his holiday-ready staging and hit the road for the first official stop of the tour, which takes place tonight (Nov. 15) in Effingham, Ill.
