Trace Adkins Comes to the Comics

November will bring the release of a four-issue comic book series, Luke McBain, whose fictional hero was based on the real-life Trace Adkins.

The title character’s look is based on Trace’s appearance, and the singer spent time with the comic’s creators developing his attitude and philosophy. Luke is a man returning to his Louisiana hometown after serving 14 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. “The McBain character became kind of a reflection of Trace Adkins’ entertainment persona,” says writer Dave Tischman. “It breathes a real-life personality into the fictional character, which is something we wanted. Trace helped a lot with that, and it’s something that I think we’ve worked hard to write into the character.” Luke McBain will be available in 4,000 comic-book stores and other retail outlets.
