Tom Hanks Shows Up to Watch His Wife Open for Sugarland

“Forrest Gump” posts a picture of Rita Wilson singing onstage.

You probably heard that Tom Hanks' wife, actress Rita Wilson, was one of the opening acts for Sugarland’s emotional do-over show in Indianapolis Friday night (Oct. 29). Rita is releasing her first album soon, a collection of classic pop and folk-rock hits, and she wanted to try 'em out in front of a big crowd.

Soooo . . . any chance that her Hollywood superstar hubby would actually show up at the Indy arena to watch? Yessir! The Oscar winner was in the house, and Tom Hanks didn't just stay on the side of the stage either.

Tom—with various recording equipment—jumped into the fan club's SugarPit in front of the stage.

“He . . . was taking pictures and video and grinning from ear-to-ear,” Chicago radio exec Marci Braun told Country Aircheck. “It was the cutest thing ever.”

Heck, Tom even posted one of those pics, with the caption, “God bless you, Indy and thank you Sugarland. Hanx.”
