TOBY KEITH'S BUS DRIVER WOUNDED BY GUNSHOT

A bus driver for Toby Keith was wounded Monday by a gunshot fired into Toby's bus on a freeway in Carrollton, Texas, outside Dallas. Toby was not on the bus at the time, nor do police believe he or his band were targets, since aside from a mounting bracket for the rear license plate, the bus was not marked as Toby's. The driver, George Hampton, 55, was listed in good condition yesterday at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. Investigators said the bullet's trajectory suggested it may have been fired from a passing vehicle. Police have no suspects at this time. Hampton told police he was on Interstate 35E, hauling Keith's band equipment from Florida to Oklahoma, when he heard what sounded like a shot outside the bus. The slug tore through the side of the bus and hit Hampton's left leg. He stopped the bus safely and the three other people on the bus were uninjured.
