Toby Keith Opens OK Kids Korral

Years in the making, cost-free home away from home comes to fruition.

It’s been 10 years of planning, budgeting and fundraising through the Toby Keith and Friends Golf Classic, but the dream has finally been realized.

On Nov. 21, Toby Keith will celebrate the grand opening of his OK Kids Korral at the facility’s location two blocks south of the Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

The 25,000-square-foot facility serves as a cost-free, home away from home for patients undergoing treatment for pediatric cancer and their families.

It features 16 rooms, including 12 overnight suites that sleep five people and four day suites, a neutropenic wing for children with weakened immune systems, a gourmet kitchen, an Oklahoma Route 66-themed indoor playroom, an Oklahoma-themed outdoor playground, a game room, family resource room, laundry room, theater and reflection room, and décor in the warm and sunny home is Sooner themed.

“Thank you to all of those people who have supported us over the years,” Toby says. “Ten years goes by fast when you are working toward a goal this big.”
