Toby Keith Inspects Tornado Damage in Oklahoma Hometown

Oklahoma resident Toby Keith was one of many people personally affected by the massive tornados that hit his home state on Monday (May 20). Toby returned to his hometown of Moore, Okla., shortly after and toured the devastated area with Today’s Matt Lauer.

Toby had grown up nearby until his family moved to a farm outside town when he was in junior high. He pointed out the corner store he’d frequented as a youth, as well as his sister’s house, which was damaged but still standing.

Reminded of the 1999 tornado that hit Moore, Toby felt confident that his hometown would rise and rebuild. “As bad as this looks right now, these people are so resilient,” he said. “They’ll prepare for the next one.”
