Title, Date Set for June Carter Cash TV Movie

As Country Weekly reported last month, acclaimed singer/songwriter Jewel was tapped to portray the iconic June Carter Cash in a Lifetime TV movie. Now, the network has revealed the title, Ring of Fire, and premiere date for the production—Monday, May 27, at 8 p.m. ET.

The movie is based on the memoir Anchored in Love: An Intimate Portrait of June Carter Cash by John Carter Cash, June's son. The story traces June's amazing life and career from her childhood to her long marriage to Johnny Cash.

Jewel recently told CW that she felt a common bond with June. They both took on the role of supporting their families through music, for example. "We were both part of a musical family who found themselves in the middle of nowhere with not much but an outhouse," she said. "Being grounded and down-to-earth are just things you learn from humble beginnings like that."

With her role in Ring of Fire, Jewel follows in the footsteps of Reese Witherspoon, who won an Academy Award for her portrayal of June in 2005's Walk the Line
