Tissue Alert: Toby Surprises Soldier’s Wife
When it comes to going the extra mile for the U.S. military, few go as far as Toby Keith.
Go ahead—try not to cry. After meeting the wife of Major Pete Cruz in his meet-and-greet line, patriotic Toby Keith brought the young lady to the stage at his Sept. 8 show in Houston. The pair gave a moving and tearful performance of the poignant military tribute "American Soldier," but that was only the beginning of the tears.
After the song, Major Cruz, who had been serving in Afghanistan, delivered Toby's guitar onstage, surprising his unsuspecting wife. Toby and his band had a vantage point to witness the couple's warm embrace and kiss—actually several kisses.
Mission accomplished.
