The Grammy nominees were announced Thursday, Dec. 6, in Los Angeles. "I’m overwhelmed," said Tim, who was reading to a class at his daughter’s school when the nominees were revealed. "The Grammys stand for credibility so to be recognized for your work by the members is the highest tribute." Taylor Swift got an early birthday present when she received a nomination for Best New Artist, which covers all genres of music. "Now this has officially been the best day ever," said Taylor, who turns 18 next week. "My label just told me that my CD is certified double platinum and I got a huge nomination that I didn’t even see coming!" Other nominees in general field categories were Vince Gill, nominated for Album of the Year for These Days, and songwriters Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins for Song of the Year for "Before He Cheats." The winners will be announced on the 50th Annual Grammy Awards telecast, Feb. 10, on CBS-TV at 8 p.m. ET. For the complete list of nominees, go to grammy.com.
